Hope
you all had a wonderful New Year celebration, and that 2007
has started well for you.
I started mine with black-eyed
peas, cabbage and cornbread. They sell black-eyed peas
in cans with water. No seasoning whatsoever, just water!
Well, I changed THAT quickly, and they were delicious. As
I could not find smoked ham
hocks, I made do with smoked bacon. I also prepared
some cabbage as well as cornbread. No, corn meal is not
sold in the supermarkets; so I bring it from the States!
There is an Italian deli where I can get it, but as I had
some on hand, no need to worry whether they would have it
or not. I also had my 12
grapes at midnight on New Year's Eve, as was the custom
in Venezuela. So things started well.
We were all back to work on January 2, and then I was off
to acupuncture after that. I had a good session, as always.
On Wednesday I went to the doctor as I had had a terrible
cough for several days. He said I had an inflamed throat,
and gave me a prescription for antibiotics. He also gave
me something for my eye, as there is an infection in the
left one! I'm falling apart, I guess! Found out that I was
not alone with the inflamed throat, as several people at
work had it as well.
Liz Kirby came by my place on Friday after work for a drink
and to help me hang a large mirror I'd received at Christmas
from friends, Paula and Nigel. We had a nice visit, as we'd
not been able to catch up with each other over the holidays
or at work.
Saturday I was off for therapy again on my shoulder, and
it is amazing how much better it now feels after just two
treatments. I am so glad about that. I then wandered into
town, visiting with my friends Arthur, Bess and Teri Rhodes
at Newgate
Market. Always a time to be cheered up with those three!
After returning home, I had to get a washing done, vacuum,
straighten up things, then take down the tree, as it was
nearly sunset of the 6th, and then vacuum again! I should
have waited to do the vacuuming until AFTER I took down
the tree! Oh well.
Today I went to visit John Coulson and Kate Addy, and to
give John a birthday gift, as his birthday is tomorrow.
Afterwards, I headed to see Miss
Potter, and thoroughly enjoyed the film!
So that's been my week. I hope your first week of 2007 has
been a good one! All the best!
Love,
