We
have had a great deal of rain this week, and the River
Ouse has gone outside its banks. In fact, reports have
said the flooding
in York was as bad as in 2000. Granted, it frequently
floods by the riverbank, but it was most certainly more
than the norm this week. We also had very high winds, and
there was whistling of the wind through my windows for a
couple of days.
Monday started out as normal, a work day, but shortly after
I got home that day, I had a strange feeling come over me,
and then I realized I needed to dash to the bathroom! Without
going into detail, I was ill with a stomach bug for a couple
of days and missed work Tuesday and Wednesday. I had a ticket
to see Chicago
at the Grand
Opera House on Tuesday night with Teri Rhodes and Donna
Gale. Needless to say, I did not go, as I needed to stay
close to the toilet! Teri's mum, Bess, went in my place.
Sure, a weight loss; however, for those who have experienced
this type of thing before, we all know it's not a permanent
one! Lil Sutton came to visit me on Wednesday, and Liz Kirby
called to see how I was doing, as did Teri Rhodes and Donna
Gale.
Thursday I felt good enough to get up and go to work. I
thought, well, we will just see how it goes, and fortunately,
it went well. I went to the supermarket after work to pick
up a few things that I desperately needed!
Friday, Lil Sutton came down with the same thing! I hope
she didn't get it from me, but then, it's been something
that several people had before me, as well as when I was
ill. Evidently, it's something that's going around. I called
Lil after work, and she didn't sound so good. However, when
I checked on her on Saturday, she sounded much better, I'm
glad to report.
Saturday dawned grey and drizzly, and I was off to Mittel
Therapeutic Clinic for another session
on my shoulder. The therapist, Debbie, has done wonders
with it, I'm glad to report. Afterwards, I headed into town
to Newgate
Market to visit with Teri and Bess Rhodes, and Bess
was telling me how much she had enjoyed the performance
and appreciated the ticket, and Teri was saying how wonderful
it was as well. I'm glad they enjoyed it. I've seen it on
the stage several times, but then, every person brings a
little something different to a role, don't they?
I then journeyed on to Il
Paradiso del Cibo, visited with Paulo,
the owner, and ordered a panini.
So good! Afterwards, I was on my way to see The
Last King of Scotland at the cinema. Forrest
Whitaker is wonderful in the lead role, but the film
left me flat and wanting more. Maybe I'd just expected more
in the first place. Before going to the movie, I'd stopped
in to visit with Liz Kirby, and as always, it'd been enjoyable.
Today I was back at the store picking up a few things, getting
the flat tidy and doing a wash, and now I will get things
ready for next week.
Have a good one, everyone!
Love,
