A
happy Sunday to you all. I
am still not completely adjusted to writing “06”
on the end of my date, but then, I will adjust.
We had a
very good week at work. It was quite overcast, and rainy
most of the week, and at times, a bit chilly! However, we
all made it just fine!
Tuesday I went to acupuncture, and my back is SO much improved!
Now, my right shoulder has been causing problems, and they
are working on that. I am sure all of you in my age group
and older certainly understand what I mean!
All week was a running battle with Marks
and Spencer's Online Customer Service.
Erik Osterreider and John Maio had given me vouchers from
there for Christmas, but they'd never arrived. Well, I had
started calling the week before. I was told they'd been
sent on Jan. 4 and to give it until Jan. 14. Okay, they
didn't arrive Saturday, or Monday; so I called Monday evening.
They would check on it and call me back. No call back on
Tuesday; so I called Tuesday evening. They would check again.
Then a call and I was told they'd send out new ones I should
have on Thursday. They arrived......at work! How they got
there, I have no idea, as the address clearly stated my
flat number. Am I that well known by the Royal
Mail? Anyway, that's solved, finally!
On Wednesday after work James Roberts from our IT department
came down and hooked up my new computer with BROADBAND!
Yes, I've finally left the dial-up mode. Wow is it fast!
Bruce Corrie and Liz Kirby came round for a drink, and we
drank while James worked!!
Thursday I met Lynne Gill and Peter Gibson at a pub in Heslington.
We'd planned to go to another, but Peter had to get to the
bank there. No problem. It was good to catch up with them
both.
On Friday after work I went round to Paula Downing and Nigel
Naylor's home, and I got my Christmas presents! Yes, I'd
not seen them since returning, and so we had a right nice
visit. Then, we drove to Huntington to meet Liz Kirby in
The
Blacksmith's Arms. A good visit for the
3 of us!! Paula was very tired, and I dropped her back home
and made my way home a bit before 10pm.
Saturday dawned lovely, and I was up and out of here and
in town taking pictures. I wanted to try and get some shots
with my new digital camera Ken Carlile gave me for Christmas.
I got pictures of the Minster,
the
Shambles, Clifford's
Tower, Rowntree
Wharf (my home and workplace), Walmgate
Bar, and then I went to the post office to mail a few
things, over to Marks
and Spencer to purchase a gift voucher
for friends for an engagement party next weekend (the store
is FINE!!! It's the online people who have a problem!),
then walked back home. I got back a bit after 11, after
setting out around 8am. I got myself cleaned and dressed
and then drove to Frankie
and Benny's Restaurant to meet Pam Powell
and Dana Dennis for lunch. We'd not exchanged our Christmas
pressies, either, and so we had a good catch up visit, and
a good meal. Then we walked over to The
Vue Cinema to see “Memoirs
of a Geisha”, a very good film! Afterwards,
we said our goodbyes, and I went and had my car washed,
and then came home and made brownies and peanut butter cookies
to take to friends on Monday, did a washing and some ironing.
I was tired!
Today dawned glorious as well, and I walked over to church
at Central
Methodist and then home. I finished my ironing, straightened
things up, got things ready for work, and now I've finished
this message to all of you.
Hope you all had a good week as well.
Love,
