This
week started much like last week, with cold, rainy, snowy
weather and with sleet and hail at times! The rivers continued
to rise, but no problems this time. No winds of the likes
we had last week, thank goodness!
On Wednesday I went to York
College of Law after work to pick up Kate
Addy, who is a teacher there. It was raining when I left
work, and then it turned to snow, all in about 20 minutes!
By the time Kate and I left there, it had nearly stopped.
We then went to the Royal
Dragon for Chinese food. It has now changed
hands, and reports were that the food had definitely improved.
One of the things that caught my eye immediately when we
got our menus was that it was a new menu, and there were
Szechuan
dishes on there! Hooray! Before, it had just been bland
Cantonese food, and I'd always had to ask for chili oil.
Not this time. We had a delightful meal, and I had requested
that my dish be made HOT! They complied, for which I was
very happy. I then took Kate home, and I then journeyed
on to my place.
Our weather improved markedly the rest of the week, with
no rain! The temperature even rose to 50 degrees by Saturday!
On Saturday, after therapy, I was in town at Newgate
Market to see Bess and Arthur Rhodes who had returned
the day before from Benidorm,
Spain. Arthur wasn't there, but Bess was, and she was as
brown as a berry and telling me what fun they had. Teri,
their daughter, and I are headed to Barcelona
in April, and we were talking about our planned trip as
well. After a bit, I continued into town, doing a bit of
shopping, getting some birthday presents, and then it was
back home. I got everything unloaded and put away, and then
I went and picked up Donna Gale. She and I went to see the
movie “Venus”
with Peter
O'Toole. Not what we had expected, but good. I wouldn't
recommend it to everyone, but I wanted to see him, because
I've always considered him a fine actor, and as usual, he
didn't disappoint. We then headed home, and I became very
ambitious.....I cleaned the flat from top to bottom, including
the oven! What was I thinking? Anyway, everything is now
spic and span. A nice feeling, I must say.
Today dawned lovely as well, and I was up and watching the
Australian
Open at 8:30am. Most of you know how much I love tennis,
and as I get to see so little on TV over here (not being
able to have satellite or cable in this historic building),
I take every chance I get to watch it. I also realized there
were a couple of mirrors I'd not cleaned, a couple of window
panes needed a bit more elbow grease, etc. Plus, there were
a few things that needed ironing, as always.
Well, that's all done, and
now I guess I will sully the kitchen by preparing something
for dinner!
Have a wonderful week, and hope this journal entry finds
you all doing okay.
Love,
