February 4, 2007

What a lovely week we have had weatherwise! Just beautiful sunny, crisp, clear days. Fortunately, it carried over into the weekend, and I was able to be out and about and enjoying it.

On Tuesday I heade to Northern College of Acupuncture for my treatment. My back is doing so much better, and the concentration was on my shoulder, and it, too, has been responding well to treatment. Afterwards, I headed home and noted how the sky was not as dark as it had been, thus realizing that our short days were on the wane.

The week continued and work progressed, and on Wednesday, Lil Sutton and I went to Brown's of Heslington to get something to eat as I had to go to the bank. We then returned to the office and joined other staff members in the company kitchen for our lunch. After work, Teri Rhodes picked me up, and we went to Frankie & Benny's restaurant prior to seeing Blood Diamond. She'd just recently received her new car (called “Maggie Megane”), which is a Renault Megane Coupe Cabriolet. She arrived in style and then touched the button, and down went the hard top. I climbed in, and off we set for the restaurant and cinema. Very nice car! When we arrived, and she pressed the button and the top started coming up, people stopped and stared and pointed as they saw that hardtop unfold! We just got out and went in, proud as punch!

I could have a karaoke party in Frankie & Benny's, what with knowing all the songs played in the intercom. Anyway, we had a good meal, and the film was VERY good, and kept us riveted throughout. Afterwards, Teri took me home, and then it was time for bed.

Hooray! I've hired a cleaning lady, and on Thursday she came to clean the flat. She did a wonderful job, and I am so glad I found her!!!!

On Friday Lil and I went to the Rose and Crown for lunch. It'd been awhile since we'd been there, but the food remains just as good as before. After work, I headed home and did a wash, got things prepared for the next day, as I had some errands to run.

Saturday dawned lovely, and I was off to get my car washed and cleaned inside. It was quite chilly, and there was still ice on the roads, but the car is now nice and clean inside and out. I arrived at Mittel Therapeutic Clinic for the treatment on my shoulder, and what with the machinations of Debbie there and the acupuncture, as I said, it's doing much better.

I then headed into town to do some shopping, as well as getting Valentine's cards mailed, and then out to see Sally Corrie. I'd not seen her since Christmas day, and I was taking her her birthday present. Her birthday is Valentine's Day, but Bruce, Alexander and she will be on holiday. So, we had a great visit for several hours. I returned home late in the afternoon, and at 6pm picked up Teri to go to see Dreamgirls. I'd seen the stage musical any number of times when I lived in Los Angeles, and I had thoroughly enjoyed it. Teri wanted to see it, and I went, being a bit skeptical. Well, it was so very good! I really enjoyed it, and it brought back good memories. Teri enjoyed as well, and now we both want the soundtrack.

Today I was up and ironing. Yes, that chore is still with me, but it didn't seem half as bad, what with not having to do the cleaning. I left the flat about noon and walked into town to meet Kate Addy at Plunketts restaurant. It is her birthday, and I took her for a birthday lunch. We first had a pint at the Three Legged Mare, just a few doors down from the restaurant. Afterwards, we walked down to it, and we were given a table in front of a small coal fire, very nice and cozy. Kate had wanted Mexican food, and we started with Margaritas and jalapeño poppers, followed by fajitas and then Irish Coffee. What a lovely afternoon we had. We bid goodbye to each other, and then off we each sat for home.

So another lovely week here in York. I hope yours has been as good.

Love,

Denny
