February 12, 2006

I found myself feeling a bit poorly this past week. I'd not been up to par, as I said last week. Well, I went to work on Monday, but by noon, I was headed home. I came home, took more Lemsip, settled down to watch TV, and fell asleep! I stayed home and nursed myself with Lemsip, oranges, orange juice, oatmeal and blueberries, and soup. Lil Sutton, Bruce Corrie and Vicky McQuade took pity on me and came to see if there was anything I might need, and to check up on me from time to time.

I was home Tuesday and Wednesday, and Wednesday afternoon, I was feeling much better. On Thursday I ventured back to work, and I made it the rest of the week, granted, only 1 day more!

On Friday I met Nicola Laube at the Rose and Crown for lunch. They are back serving lunch again, hooray! We had a nice catch-up since her anniversary party, which was the last time I'd seen her. All too soon it was time for us to head back to work. I finished the day and headed home to settle in and watch the opening of the Winter Olympics, and how impressive it was.

Saturday I headed into town, stopping at Newgate Market to visit with Bess and Arthur Rhodes, then on to Marks and Spencer to purchase Sally Corrie's birthday present. I found Paula Downey working there, and we had a nice visit, as always. From there it was on to the post office, and then to Sainsbury's to pick up a few things. I came home and wrapped Sally's present, and I called to see if she was home. We'd not seen each other since well before I left for the States for Christmas. Anyway, she was home; so I went round and delivered her present to her. We had such a nice visit! As I was about to leave, Bruce and Alexander arrived. They'd been to pick up Alexander's brand new puppy, an 11-week old beagle, and what a cutie she is! Anyway, I left and let them get on with keeping up with the puppy in it's explorations of it's new home.

Today I made another journey to the supermarket (am I the only one who seems to NOT be able to remember to pick up everything on their list?), then came home, did some ironing (it never ends!), and then prepared a late lunch and watched the Olympics. I do so love the Olympics!

Our weather has been quite cold this past week, and the wind has really been blowing!

Here's hoping all is going well for all of you.

Love,

Denny
