February 19, 2006

What a lovely week we have had! It has been beautiful weather, almost spring-like! The snowdrops are in bloom, the sun is out, and the days are beginning to get longer. Everyone has been enjoying the brighter weather. It's been lovely!

Tuesday was my friend Sally Corrie's birthday. I'd taken her gift to her on Saturday, and I called her to wish her a very happy birthday. Bruce, of course, gave her a most special day. Tuesday was also my day at acupuncture, and when I entered, the receptionist asked if I would be one of the models for the Sunday meet. Every year the students have various weekends of intense workshops. This weekend was one for the third year students. Of course, I said yes. I am always willing to lend my support to anything they need. So that was all set.

Wednesday I met Peter Gibson at the Rose and Crown for lunch. Always good to catch up with him, and we had a nice visit. After work, as usual, I was home watching the Olympics. It is enjoyable!

Thursday I was working away, when Peter emailed me to see if I would please come to a Conservative Party Dinner Gareth Dadd was hosting at The Three Tuns Hotel in Thirsk. I said I would definitely try, and as it worked out, I was able to go. After all, you do things for friends, don't you? Evidently, five people had dropped out. My friend, Teri Rhodes, emailed me to see if I was going, as she and her friend, Donna, were going as well. So we decided we three would go together. Gary dropped Donna and Teri at my place, and I drove us to Thirsk, about 45 minutes away. We were glad we went, as the company at our table was very good, the food was delicious, and the speaker was extremely entertaining! Plus, I won a bottle of red wine; so definitely not a wasted evening. We got home around midnight, and I fell into bed.

Friday went well, even though I was quite tired. I came home at the end of work and enjoyed the Olympics, as usual.

Saturday I was up and out and into town to do some shopping, and then out to the cinema to see “Good Night and Good Luck”. What a good movie! I recall the McCarthy hearings, and the eventual point where he was brought down, thank goodness! Hopefully, we never go through something like that again.

I then decided to see “Casanova”, and it was thoroughly entertaining! Afterwards, I came home and got myself ready to go meet Isobel McCoy and Sally Corrie at Plunkett's Restaurant. A bit before 7pm Sally called to see if I would pick her up. Of course! We had such an enjoyable time, and the food, as always, was delicious. About 10:45pm our taxi arrived, and off we toddled home.

Today I awoke, did a wash, and then went and did some necessary shopping for the flat. Afterwards, I headed to the Northern College of Acupunture for the session. It was amazing how many of the third year students I recognized, but then, I realized that I'd been there for over a year, and many of them had worked on me as second year, and as third year students. I did tell them how much I appreciated all they had done for me, and how I continually sing their praises. The director did a session on my shoulder pain, and it is MUCH better today! Afterwards, I went and purchased a new wardrobe for the flat, and then came home to do chores around the flat, like cleaning up and ironing. UGH! Well, it had to be done!!!

So that's another week in my life. I hope yours has gone well.

Love,

Denny
