Well,
our weather certainly changed from last week. This past
week has been cold and colder, with rain, as well as the
threat of snow. There went our springtime weather!
On Thursday Ann McGeehan and I met Peter Gibson at The
Rose and Crown for lunch. He told us of
his new job at Minster
Law, where will be in charge of projects
at the firm. We were thrilled to bits for him, and it is
always good to be in his company. Our time flew, and before
long, Ann and I had to say goodbye, and we headed back to
work, as did Peter. That same day, but after work, I was
headed to the supermarket, when I heard someone calling
my name. I rolled down the window, and there stood Juliet
Degham! I'd called her a taxi, which was to have been there
at 5! Here is was about 11 after, and no taxi! I told her
to jump in, and we made it to the train station with seconds
to spare. Fortunately, she got her train, I got my shopping
done, and all was right with the world. Especially since
I've found Old
El Paso Refried Beans. Not only regular
refried beans, but the spicy
ones as well! HOORAY!!!!
Friday Lil Sutton and I went to the Rose and
Crown to meet Kim Youngman. She looked wonderful!
It had been a long time since we'd seen her, and it was
so very good to catch up! Again, the time flew, and Lil
and I were scurrying back to work before we knew what had
happened. After work on Friday I went to Lawton
Henry's Salon to get my hair cut and to
visit with Natalie and Adam there and find out what all
had been going on with them. What a nice group of people
there, and I always feel at home with them. Afterwards,
as the weather was messy, I decided to just come on home
and watch the Olympics.
Saturday morning I was in town and doing lots of errands.
I went to the Continental
Market and picked up a few things, to the post office,
the bank, more shopping, etc. It was a cold and blustery
day, but I was prepared for it. At 2:30pm I met Teri and
Donna at HaHa!
Bar and Cafe, and we had a wonderful time,
just visiting, having a few drinks, lunch, etc. I'd seen
there was a special there where there was a 2-for-1 offer
on food. Evidently, many others had read the same notice,
as the place was full. We did get a table, and we just whiled
away the time. Finally at 4 or so, we all parted company.
It was raining, but no mind, I was in a good mood. I walked
back to the market, bought a loaf of fresh baked grainary
bread, and headed home with my purchases.
Saturday
night was Scotland vs. England in the Six
Nations rugby contest. England and France were the picks
for the championship. Scotland had defeated France in their
first match a few weeks ago, and England was undefeated.
They came to Murrayfield
in Edingburgh
ready for battle, and the Scots gave it to them, winning
18-12 in a wonderful match. By winning, they regained the
Calcutta
Cup, which has not been theirs for many years. Needless
to say, Liz Kirby, Bruce Corrie and Lil and Drew Sutton
were called and congratulated by yours truly (being as how
they are Scottish!). What an exciting match! I bet there
were many Scots with terrific hangovers today!
Today I was up and out of here and headed to Liz Kirby's
home to pick her up. We were off to Ilkley,
West Yorkshire, to look at shutters. No, you can't buy them
here in York, and Peter had found this place in Ilkley (Ilkley
Cane and Blinds), which was the closest
place that had been found. We arrived there and the gentleman
who served us was very nice indeed. He's coming over on
Thursday with colors, etc., and make sure the measurements
are correct. From there we headed back to York, stopping
to have lunch, and then it was off to B&Q
where we picked up the ceiling fans for the flat. Earlier
she'd help me decide on the new radiators for the flat;
so a great deal accomplished. Again, it rained on us from
time to time, but no matter.
Anyway, that's the end of my week. I'm watching the closing
ceremonies for the Olympics, and then that will be me. Hope
your week has been a good one.
Love,
