March 6, 2005

Well, to continue my story about Stockholm...

On Monday I awoke to another lovely, bright, sunshiny day. Anders had prepared breakfast, and then, while I was getting everything packed, he'd prepared Swedish meatballs, salad and mashed potatoes. I was stuffed again! Then, we got my things downstairs and into the car, and off we went to the bus terminal. We said our goodbyes, and we vowed it would NOT be another 21 years before we saw each other! The trip to the airport was uneventful, and I got checked in for my Ryanair flight back to London Stansted. All went fine, and then problems at Stansted. I went to the Easyjet check-in to find that my flight was delayed, and by quite a bit. Well, I would thus miss the last train from Newcastlee to York; so I decided to book a hotel. I'd had the forethought to check with Peter Gibson, my fount of knowledge about all things British, and of course he knew of hotels in Newcastle. I called The Jury's Inn, and I was able to book a room. That was settled. Our flight finally arrived, and we left for Newcastle a bit after 11pm. The pilot came on and apologized, saying they had been stranded in Barcelona, Spain due to snow.....in BARCELONA!!! He did point out that he'd found that the Spanish dealt with snow worse than the English, which brought forth some chuckles. We arrived in Newcaslte, and I got a taxi to the hotel, and checked in and went to bed.

I was up early Tuesday morning, got myself ready, and on the 7:12am GNER train to York. Arrived and took a taxi home, changed, and then it was to work! I had acupuncture that day; so I was off for that. I came home on Tuesday and grabbed something to eat and collapsed in bed!

The rest of the week went well, and on Saturday there was a back pain management course where I receive my acupuncture. I'd been asked to be a case study for that, and I said of course I would. Well, that meant that I would receive a treatment on Saturday for free, and the next two would be free as well. I was glad I said yes! After that was over, I went to Bishop Wilton to visit John and Isobel McCoy and their son, Sydney. We had a good time, and Isobel and I made quesadillas and potato skins, and John had made a delicious tiramisu. A good meal! Afterwards, we journeyed to the local pub, The Fleece, where we met up with some friends and neighbors of theirs, Janet and Jim, whom I'd met previously. A great time. Then it was back home and to bed.

Today I left their home about 11am, and went to do my weekly grocery shopping, etc. So here I am, with clothes in the washer, dinner in the oven, and writing you all. I hope you had a good week as well.

Take care.

Love,

Denny
