March 19 , 2006

We started our week with more snow. The snow of Sunday continued on Monday and Tuesday, but it had melted on Tuesday prior to my going to acupuncture. However, it was oh, so lovely. I did enjoy it.

After acupuncture, I journeyed to the supermarket to pick up a few things, then back home. It was still very cold, and it remained so throughout the week.

On Thursday after work, Michele Stott came through for a visit, and we just had a good old fashioned gab session. After a bottle of good red wine, she sat off for home about 9pm. We did have to work the next day, after all!

On Friday Michele, Karen and Jason Sinnott and I headed up to the Spread Eagle with Vicky McQuade to celebrate her birthday. We welcomed the warmth of the pub even after the short stroll to it. We got tucked into a corner table and enjoyed the camaraderie and the karaoke. Ian eventually joined us, and Michele and I enjoyed participating in the karaoke, and about 9pm or so, Ian, she and I walked to my place, and then they headed on home. A good night.

Saturday I got some errands done, as well as the ironing (still wish I could find someone who would do that for me!), and I waited to hear from Liz Kirby as to when she would be free to go look at other carpet samples. Never did hear from her; so I set out on my own. Wouldn't you know it, the lady I'd spoken to on Friday who said she had it wasn't there, and her colleagues didn't know much about it. So, they will contact me on Monday and let me know when they can come out and measure, WITH the samples. I told them the purpose of me coming out there was to see the color and shade, etc., and to try to save them a trip in case it was not what I was looking for. They apologized up one side and down the other, and they said for me not to worry. I came home and finished watching the Six Nations rugby. France beat Wales in the final minutes of their match, and it appeared they had the title sewed up; however, Ireland was playing England, and if Ireland, or England, amassed a certain number of points, then they would win. A car was stationed at some point equidistant between the site of the two matches, and when Ireland won, but not by enough, it set off for Cardiff, Wales. Ireland, however, had something to cheer about, as they had won the triple crown, defeating England, Scotland and Wales. Needless to say, the French were thrilled beyond belief, but there was no joy on this isle for the home nations.

Today I was up and out to church, and the weather was slightly warmer. However, there are predictions of more cold weather on the way. We shall see. After church, I came home and changed clothes, and Karen Whiteley picked me up for lunch. We went to Toby Carvery, a lovely place with a wonderful true British Sunday lunch: choice of gammon (ham), turkey or roast beef, homemade Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, parsnips, roasted onions, roasted potatoes, boiled potatoes, cauliflower with cheese, carrots, broccoli, etc., then go to anther station where there is onion gravy, grain mustard gravy, apple sauce, cranberry sauce, horseradish, mustard, etc. It was delicious! Karen and I both decided to go whole hog and have bread and butter pudding for dessert with the bottomless pitcher of custard. Yummy! Definitely full, we headed to Monk's Cross to do a bit of shopping, and then she dropped me off back here at home. I have done some straightening up here, and now given you an account of my week.

Here's hoping your week went well.

Love,

Denny
