Our
weather did begin to improve this week, although very, very
slowly. We still had some very cold days and nights, well
below freezing! Spring had definitely not sprung for us
here in the Northeast of England.
On Wednesday after work, Bruce Corrie came round, and we
had a nice visit. It had been awhile since we had had a
good chat, and we did that evening. Very nice.
On Thursday after work I was off to Rustique
Restaurant to meet Pam Powell and Dana
Dennis for dinner. It's a lovely French bistro, and I'd
never been. I will definitely be returning. We had a very
good meal, good service, and we were out with time to walk
over to the Grand
Opera House, where we met Peter Gibson and
Gareth Dadd. We were off to see Acorn
Antiques the Musical. What an enjoyable evening
that was! The show was a thorough delight! I got home about
10:30, and it was time for bed for me.
Friday was Lil Sutton's birthday, and we celebrated it in
fine style. Our office area had been festooned with balloons
and banners, and many of us gave her gifts and cards. I'd
picked up bacon
sandwiches for those of us in the department for the
morning, and then at lunch, a number of us took her to lunch
at the Rose
and Crown. As always, the food was delicious,
and the staff came to wish her a happy birthday. We returned
to work, and that afternoon there was birthday cake! Needless
to say, we were all stuffed for that day, and no plans for
dinner that evening!!
The weather had become quite mild by this time of the week,
and I headed to Lawton
Henry's on Friday after work to get my
hair cut. As always, I was greeted by Lawton and Adam with
a warm smile, and afterwards I headed home for a quiet evening.
Saturday was another nice day, and I was out early to do
my regular shopping, get my shoulder worked on at Mittel
Clinic. Afterwards I headed to the market,
visited with Debbie and then with Bess and Teri Rhodes.
Teri was meeting me that evening for a party, and we arranged
where and when. I had some other errands to do, and I eventually
got home, got the place straightened up, and then myself
cleaned up. Lil and Drew Sutton arrived a bit after 6, and
at 7pm our taxi arrived to collect us and take us to the
Royal
Oak pub. We had a delicious dinner there,
and abut 7:30pm Teri arrived. We were all excited, as we
made our way to St.
William's College for the 50th birthday
celebration of Richard Kirby. What a fun time we all had.
Good drinks, a great many people there, catching up with
so many friends, a good disco, a stripper for Richard, and
all too soon the evening was over, but we had thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves.
Today dawned with summer time, that damnable daylight savings
time! I don't like it one bit!!! However, there's not much
I can do about; so I have to accept it. I got up, did a
wash, made breakfast, and then in the early afternoon I
went to collect Kate Addy. We went to see Amazing
Grace, based on the life and work of Willian Wilberforce
to abolish slavery. It was very well done, and we did enjoy
it! I dropped Kate back at her home, and then headed home
myself.
So that's me for another week. Take care, all of you, and
I hope you had a good one!
Love,
