Hello!
Our weather has been rainy, sunny, cold, cool, rainy,
and then sunny again. Right now, it's raining slightly
and chilly! Will spring never be sprung here?
Work went well this week, and on Monday at lunchtime
I went to the Guildhall to pick up my taxi tokens. For those of us of a certain
age (over 60!) who are residents, we receive tokens we
can use for taxis here every year. Granted, there are
only 40 of them, but hey, it's better than nothing! It
was just misting when I got there, but it was pouring
rain when I left. I made it back to work without becoming
drenched, as I had my brolly (unbrella) with me.
On Tuesday I was off to the Northern
College of Acupuncture for my treatment with Hilary and the students, and they
were thrilled that my shoulder had improved so much,
and that my back is holding up so well. Afterwards, I
came home and just relaxed, as usual after a treatment.
Wednesday after work I had a driving lesson with Kevin
Tate from the Kevin
Tate School of Motoring, Ltd., in
the rain. I have to take lessons over here to be able
to do things they want done their way; i.e. reverse around
a corner (even my instructor says it is a daft thing!),
reverse into a parking bay (I have never done this one
and I won't after my test!), etc. Anyway, he said that
my driving skills were great, and that my observation
when merging into traffic was good, etc. My three-point
turn was good, but he told me not to turn the wheel while
at a stop, as they consider that wrong, as it will wear
the tires! Right! We all know the tires wear out from
turning the steering wheel when it is still, but not
when the car is rolling. You are supposed to be turning
the steering wheel when the car is moving a bit! Anyway,
my reversing around a corner needed "polishing",
and I reversed into a parking space okay, and my parallel
parking was very good! Needless to say, after that, I
came home and just watched some TV.
Thursday morning I had a doctor's appointment, and I'd
lost 1 stone +1 (15 pounds for the uninitiated). She
was happy about that, and so was I. That had been done
in 28 days. So I go back in another month to see how
I've done!
On Friday I came home after work as I had a driving lesson
on Saturday at 9:45am; thus I thought that was the best
thing to do. Did a couple of loads of washing and watched
tv, and it rained quite a bit that evening.
Saturday I awoke to a brilliant sunny day! Hooray! However,
by the time I was ready to go down for my lesson, the
wind had come up, it was cold and the rain was coming
down. I bundled up, and down I went. Well, we hadn't
gone too far, and the rain and wind began to slack off.
Kevin said I did VERY well, and by the time he brought
me back, the sun was out again, and it had warmed up.
I walked into town and did some errands, then back home
to the car to go visit Sally Corrie. Bruce was in Glasgow,
as the team he supports financially, Gretna
Black and Whites, were playing Aberdeen
in the semi-finals of the Tennents
Scottich Cup. Now,
Gretna is
a village of about 4,000 people, and here they were playing
for a final berth in the Scottish Cup finals, and then
won, 3-0!!! It's like a fairytale for these people! Over
6,000 people came to support Gretna; so needless to say,
there were more than the population of the village cheering
them on. If they win the final, they could be playing
in the UEFA
Cup! It was not on SKY TV,
but it was on SKY radio; so Sally and her sister,
Jenny, and I listened to it, and we were so happy they
had won! We know Bruce and the others probably were doing
quite a bit of celebrating afterwards. I left there,
and I came home and prepared Impossible
Mexican Pie to
take to Lil Sutton, who is still home with her shingles.
I was taking it on Sunday. More rain came while I was
at Sally's home, and then again when I got home.
Today it was a lovely day as I went to church.
It was announced that one of the parishoners would be
100 on Tuesday, and a card was there for all to sign,
and the preacher announced that after the service, those
who would like were invited to walk across the street
and down a bit to her flat to sing a hymm for her. I
went along, and we sang "What a friend we have in
Jesus".
She looked so happy and very spry for someone who will
be 100. Afterwards, I came home and did my ironing, straightened
up things around here, and now I am writing to you all.
Hope you had a good week, and that next week is good
to you.
Love,
