April 10, 2005

Monday was a pretty good day, as our weather did warm up a bit. After work I went out to B&Q to retrieve my quote the guy had done for me the prior week concerning the new kitchen. Granted, he was to have contacted me on Thursday, but that didn't happen! Anyway, they could not find my quote, the guy wasn't there, etc. So a wasted trip.

Tuesday I was off to acupuncture in the morning, and after work found me at B&Q again after a phone call during the day saying they had the drawing and the quote. Well, sure enough this time they did. So off I went with it and looked it over. Seems as though there will have to be some changes made.

Wednesday I went to Sainsbury's and picked up a few things, as I was making peanut butter cookies for the group at work. I'd mentioned these some time ago, and of course, they all looked at me as if I'd lost my marbles. Cookies made with peanut butter, Denny? Ooohh, sounds terrible! So I let it pass, and I made them and packed them ready for their journey to work on Thursday.

Thursday arrived, and I was in work early with my cookies. I opened them and had them on display when the others began to drift in. Everyone wanted to know what was in them, and I said, “just try them”, which of course they did! To a man (and woman) they loved them! They thought they were delicious. When I told them the secret ingredient, they were astounded, and nearly everyone said I was right not to tell them, as they'd probably not tried them. But now that they liked them.......they quickly disappeared. They did admit that they DO need to keep an open mind. I even had several ask for the recipe!

Friday was a rather cold day, even though it had been announced on the weather that we were in for some wintry weather. Well, I'm working away at my desk, and one of my colleagues says, “Hey Denny, look out your window ”. It was snowing! As I watched it come down, it stopped. About 30 minutes later, it was snowing again! This activity continued most of the afternoon, even when I went for acupuncture and when I was driving home, it was snowing, and the wind was really blowing and howling. I went upstairs and changed to go out, and put on a warm zip-up wooly with a hood, put a leather coat on over that, and added my gloves. The snow was blowing sideways across the river when I left!

Well, I got down stairs, bundled up like Nanuk of the North, and what do you know.....no snow! The wind had died down, there were no flakes anywhere, and it certainly seemed warm. I quickly took the hood off my head, took off my gloves and pocketed them, and carried on walking to Wetherspoons. It was Tracey Reid's birthday do, and I was invited. We all had a good time, and after a few hours, many were breaking off to go to different places. I decided to just stay there and visit with Richard Kirby and Bruce Corrie, and around 9pm, Bruce and I shared a taxi home. I had my leather coat in my arm, and it had warmed up considerably! I even opened some windows when I got here.

Saturday was a lovely day to start, with sunny skies, etc. I walked into town, did a bit of shopping, got some more sausages, etc. at the Bavarian Festival and came back home. I then went to the Vue at Clifton Moor to see Sahara. It was okay, but not nearly as good as I had hoped. I came home and got things organized for dinner, and an evening in watching telly.

Sunday was another nice day, and I dressed and walked to church. After church, I came home and made Alexander Corrie some peanut butter cookies. I'd taken him some the previous Sunday, and even though he didn't know what was in them, he loved them! I'd promised I'd make him some more; so I did. The Corries were in the garden, tending to Alexander's tadpoles, but he quickly forgot about the tadpoles when he saw my box. He was thrilled, as were Bruce and Sally, who immediately took some as well. We had a visit, then I was off to see Liz Kirby. We'd not had a chance for a good visit in some time; so it gave us a chance to catch up. Now I am home, having had dinner, and getting ready to settle down with the telly again.

Hope that the week has been a good one for all of you.

Love,

Denny
