May 01, 2005

Well, our week was a bit like a yo-yo weatherwise. We'd start out chilly, get warm and sunny during the day, then chilly at night. We had sunshine, rain, etc., but never on the days we were told by the weatherpeople. Not much different from the US! Anyway, it was a good week, all told.

Tuesday I had acupuncture late in the afternoon, and then it was home from that. By now, my sinuses and allergies had definitely kicked into high gear, and they did some needling for that as well. I must admit, it certainly seemed to help! What with rape-seed, apple blossoms, cherry blossoms, tulip trees, etc. all in bloom; well, you just don't have a chance! However, Peter Gibson told me about some tablets to take, and they were on offer from Tesco's for two packets for one (i.e. 60 tablets for £3.49). So, I loaded up on them for me and for him.

On Saturday I was out early to the post office, and then up to Lawton Henry's Salon of Beauty to get my nails done by Louise Meek. We'd not seen each other for some time, and we had a good visit. Then, it was on over to Greenwoods to be measured for the bits and bobs I need to complete my kilt for the 30th birthday formal dinner for Peter Gibson on May 21. It was supposed to have been a lovely day, but that didn't happen! It was chilly and damp and raining, but I carried on. I walked back home, and then I had lunch, and I called Peter to tell him I was headed to his home to help with the stuffing of envelopes for Gareth Dadd's election campaign. I worked alongside his mother, his sister-in-law and Mark Daley, a friend of theirs from London. We finished stuffing, and then I was back down to Clifton Moor and to the cinema to see "The Interpreter", which I thoroughly enjoyed. From there, it was back to Gareth and Peter's for dinner that evening. Gareth had prepared a curry, and it was extremely enjoyable. Afterwards, I headed back into town about 11, and to bed!!

I was up this morning and off to Staples, who were having their grand opening here in York. I bought a new computer chair, and as a bonus, I was given a shredder! Good going! Then, it was out to get my car washed, back home to put the chair together, and then out to pick up Richard and Liz Kirby. We were off to the Old White Swan to meet Karen Whiteley and Mike Kendall and to watch the football game. Richard's son, Adam, joined us, as did a friend of him, Tom. We stayed there for a few hours, and then it was on to the Slug and Lettuce. From there, we headed to Bobo Lobo, and then on to Kennedy's. I could not keep going, and so I bid them adieu there.

Now, I am back home and writing to you. We have a day off tomorrow (May Day celebration!). Hey, anytime we have a long weekend is a good thing for me, as well as for others! So, hope your week has been a good one. All the best!

Love,

Denny
