Again
I am glad to report that Jean Heard is responding very
well to all the therapy; in fact, even better than anticipated,
which is VERY good news! She's now in the Memorial
Rehabilitation Hospital in Houston, and
the reports I receive are very upbeat and promising. I
do so hope it continues so.
As predicted, Monday, our Bank Holiday, was a cold, rainy
and windy day. In the afternoon, I joined friends Richard,
Jane and Tracey on Parliament
Street for the York
Live Music Festival. Well, not exactly for ALL
the festival, as it had been going on all weekend. One
of Jane's nephews, and her future son-in-law, were playing
in one of the bands. We listened to them, then we listened
to the next band, and after that we headed to The
Terrace (formerly YO1)
for a drink. The wind was blowing and it definitely had
a chill in the air! I stayed for a couple, and then I
headed home.
I had been bothered by a tooth pain for a few days, and
on Monday I called Clock
House Dental to see if they could fit
me in. Sure enough, they could! I got there, and the dentist
said that the tooth had to come out! Fortunately it was
at the very back. He took it out then and there, and thank
goodness there was no pain. This tooth was the first I'd
had extracted since I had my wisdom teeth out before I
left for Venezuela. The pain was gone, and I haven't had
a problem with it since then, I'm glad to report. Now
all I need to do is go for a small filling next week and
a cleaning. The dentist said my teeth looked very good,
other than those problems. Hooray!!!
The week progressed, and of course, the weather had turned
lovely starting with Tuesday, when we were all back to
work. On Friday, Lil and I headed to the Rose
and Crown and had a nice lunch. The
day was such a brilliantly sunny one, we just didn't want
to return to the office. Needless to say, we did, though!
On Saturday I was in town taking care of errands, going
to Newgate
Market to visit with Bess and Teri Rhodes, as I'd
not caught up with them for several weeks. They were doing
well, and I got my banking done, much of my shopping,
got my hair cut at Lawton
Henry's shop, picked up my laundry,
etc. I finally returned home about 1pm and got myself
cleaned up and all the stuff sorted.
About 2:30pm my friend Mark came over. We visited and
went for a walk into town, stopping at Merchant
Adventurer's Hall, then on over to walk by the River
Ouse. We ended up back on Walmgate.
We walked down to Il
Paradiso del Cibo and Paulo, the owner,
greeted us with his normal cheery greeting. We decided
to have an early dinner there, and it was delicious, as
all his food always is. We left and walked back to the
flat and watched “Any
Dream Will Do”, which is a competition
show where men have been singing to try to be the next
Joseph for Lord
Andrew Lloyd Webber's next musical. It was the semi-finals,
and we've both been watching it, and we were both happy
over who was left in the finals! After that, Mark headed
home, I watched a bit more TV, and then it was to bed
with my book.
Up today and I went to Bishop
Wilton to visit with John and Isobel and their sons,
Robin and Sydney. John had made a great salad and pizza
and rhubarb
crumble from rhubarb
in their garden. We dined outside, under some large trees
in their garden, and what a lovely day it was for dining
outdoors. I hated to leave, but from there I went to do
some shopping at a grocery store before they all closed
at 4pm, then on to Liz's for a bit of a catch up.
Now I am home, and I will be getting things ready soon
for tomorrow. Here's hoping everyone has had a wonderful
week and that you had an enjoyable, and safe, Memorial
Day holiday last weekend.
Love,
