June 12 , 2005

It was a busy week for me! It started on Tuesday, as after acupuncture, I was to be picked up by Sally Corrie at 7pm to go see Little Shop of Horrors at the Joseph Rountree Theatre. Our weather had been lovely all day, and it continued to be so that evening. I got home a bit after 6, hurriedly showered and changed, and made myself a quick, simple and very, very English meal: beans on toast! Baked beans on toast. At least it was filling. We had a great time, and it was a well done performance. The plant was superb, as usual! Afterwards, we retired to the Brigadier Girard pub, and she was regaling me with stories of their boating holiday on Corfu. Actually, they'd rented a sizeable boat on Corfu, and with their son, Alexander, Bruce and she had motored to many of the places they had gone 10 years before. As thing do change, so had some of the places. No longer were they small quiet villages with one taverna, but now large marinas. They were able to find those nice, quiet spots, though. She brought me home, and it was time for me to tuck into bed.

Wednesday I had volunteered to work late to help with a new scheme the Industrial Disease Department is doing for asbestosis. We didn't have that many calls, and so I was able to leave around 7 or so. I got home, and I made a more substantial meal than the night before, and then watched telly and bed.

Thursday was still another lovely, warm day, and it was the day we said goodbye to Ishraq Denha. She'd been at Corries doing her training contract, but she has now left us. She's a full-fledged solicitor now, and she's headed to Australia! Well, we had a leaving do for her at Orgasmic Cafe. She'd invited a number of us there, and we all got drinks and ordered food. Their pizzas are wonderful, and I ordered one with shrimp and spicy prawns with goat's cheese. Delicious, especially after I'd added the hot chili oil to it. I'd only planned to stay until about 9pm, but then John Coulson ordered several bottles of champagne for our tables, and well, I just couldn't leave, could I? So, after being coaxed to stay for more, I finally toddled out of there a bit before 11.

We all made it through the Friday, as I've always said anyone could do, but boy, were we happy for 5pm. To help along the way, Nikki Laube, Peter Gibson and Phil Johnson and I went to the Rose and Crown for a good lunch. I went home and did some washing, vaccuuming, etc., and settled in for a quiet evening. I also called my father, as it was his 91st birthday! He's still going strong!

Saturday was a bit overcast, and I walked around to get my haircut. Lawton invited me to join Louise and him at the Red Lion after 5 for a few. So, I went out and did all my errands, went to see Mr and Mrs Smith (it was okay), did some more errands, and then met up with them. We had a good time, and a good visit. We left about 7pm and headed our separate ways.

Today I was up and walked into town to church. My pastor, who is from North Carolina, was just back from a trip to Italy, and he had a good time. Afterwards, I walked back home, did ironing (that never seems to end!), got things sorted for dinner, etc., and now I'm ready to watch a bit of telly.

Have a great week, you all!

Love,

Denny
