Our
week started quite chilly, and we were thinking summer
had again been delayed.. however, by the end of the
week, the sun was back out (although the wind was blowing
up to 25 mph at times!), and we were again enjoying
a bit of summer. England had won their World
Cup match, and all were looking forward
with anticipation to the match against Ecuador, in
the final 16 (England won that match today, 1-0).
I was off to acupuncture on Tuesday and had a very good
session, and then on Friday it was time for the weekend!
Tracey Riby, John and Margaret Walker and I went to the Royal
Dragon for Chinese, not far from the
office and my flat, and we had a wonderful time! Afterwards,
I was off to Tesco to
do some shopping. It was a good time to go, as not many
people, but there were only two checkers! Fortunately,
a third turned up, and the lines did move a bit swifter.
Saturday I was up and prepared dessert and marinated
the fish before I headed to Lawton
Henry's to get my hair cut. Afterwards,
I was walking back to my car, when I ran into Nicky Laube.
We had a nice visit, then the two of us journeyed to
the Red
Lion for cappuccino with Sue Stewart.
I then walked on up to Coppergate to
do some shopping, then on back home. I had to get things
ready for dinner! I got back, and Margaret and John were
outside my flat, as John was going to hang the new mirror
I had purchased. Of course, that necessitated him having
to restring the back, etc., but he got it done. I got
the table set, things all organized, and then got myself
ready for the arrival of John Coulson and Kate Addy.
They got there about 7:30, and we had such a good time.
They regaled me with pictures and tales of their recent
trip to New
York, and telling me how friendly the people were,
and how much they enjoyed it. It was the first time for
both to the US. Around 1:00am they departed, and I got
things cleaned up.
This morning I was at Monks
Cross to do a bit of shopping, then back home to
await Pam Powell and Dana Dennis' arrival. We were headed
to Leeds to go
to Ikea (where
I purchased a couple of wooden folding chairs) and to Costco,
where we all bought some of those American goodies we
can't find in the markets here. Afterwards, we went to Las
Iguanas to have a late lunch/early
dinner, and it was delicious, and our service was wonderful!
Rosie and Rich Fluin had recommended it to me, and they
did an excellent job! We left there very, very full and
happy! We arrived back here, and said our goodbyes, and
then they headed home, and I headed to see Paua Downing
and Nigel Naylor to give Paula her birthday present,
and we had a good visit.
So that's my week! I Hope all is well with all of you.
Love,
